Is it for me?
Showbiz comedy with a soft touch, for viewers who want a vain star to be funny rather than cruel. Richard plays King Lear while a stagehand whispers his lines from the wings, and Kevin Kline milks every grandstanding speech for laughs. Laura Linney, as the town mayor, answers him with a drier, steadier look that keeps the family scenes grounded.
Before you start
It is one continuing story, so watch in order; with short episodes, two or three in a sitting is easy.
