Is it for me?
Crime fans who can take a sad, dark comedy with a showbiz streak will settle in; the laughs are deadpan and the mood stays low. Bill Hader plays Barry flat and withdrawn, and does not reach for jokes. Barry tells a waitress he is an actor, trying the words out loud, and Henry Winkler's Gene Cousineau lectures his students with total self-importance.
Before you start
Season one plays closest to straight comedy, and each later season gets darker and more tense.
4 seasons, 32 episodes, 30 min each, about 17 hours so far
