True-crime fans who can laugh at their own habit will get the most out of this, since the poke is gentle, not savage. Kaley Cuoco plays Ava as gleeful about gruesome cases, which is funny and a little unsettling. Chris Messina lands the bigger jokes as her struggling husband, with sharp comic timing. The plumber hands out burner phones in a warehouse, then moves the recording to a mansion.
