Gore-loving animation fans who want a hero that jokes through the fights will have a good time. Richter cracks wise while his whip tears through night creatures in the streets, which keeps the blood from turning grim. Thuso Mbedu's Annette, a sorceress who handles herself, and Zahn McClarnon's Olrox, a villain with real presence, give the action people worth watching.
