Is it for me?
Cosy British comedy for people who enjoy watching a grump lose arguments with a village that will not do as it is told. Locals treat his surgery like a social club, and when he sacks his receptionist Elaine, the whole place turns on him. Martin Clunes plays him stiff and curt, and Ian McNeice's Bert Large, a bluff plumber, is the neighbour who keeps pushing back.
Before you start
Every episode pairs a medical case or village quarrel with the regulars' ongoing stories, so the first season shows what the rest are like.
