Is it for me?
Viewers who can sit through a harrowing, slow-building drama will find it worth the discomfort. The choirboys arrive marching in formation like soldiers, and the long near-silent stretches of idle boys on the island make that order look thin. The young cast carries all of it.
Before you start
Watch in order, because each episode shifts to a different boy's past and the story moves in steps rather than one steady line.
