Is it for me?
Viewers who want a charming lead and gentle jokes over grit will settle in easily. Magnum narrates his own cases in a wry voice-over, and the running gags are small ones: the unpaid tab at the club, T.C. complaining about helicopter fuel. Early on he refuses to accept the official story of a Navy friend's death and works through a drug dealer, a gold merchant and a mobster.
Before you start
Most episodes are self-contained cases, so you can start anywhere, but the later seasons lean on his Navy past and turn noticeably more serious.
8 seasons, 162 episodes, 60 min each, about 162 hours so far
