Midnight Mass

Horror viewers who would rather hear a sermon than a jump scare will settle in here, particularly if Hill House worked for them. The scares come from people talking. Hamish Linklater gives Father Paul a warmth that is slightly off, and Samantha Sloyan plays Bev Keane as the churchgoer who scatters poison around the church.

The first two episodes are slow, then it turns and the back half moves fast; expect long monologues throughout.
