It is dramatized backwoods reality for people who like rural color and a good sneaking-around story more than a strict record. Every season returns to the first lighting of a new still, when a crew fires it up and waits to see what runs out. Tim Smith plays the cautious schemer, and the counter-surveillance games feel staged, which is part of the fun.
