Is it for me?
Romance fans who like their melodrama with sea cliffs and money trouble will settle in fast. Ross steps in when Demelza is being beaten and hires her as a kitchen maid in his run-down house, and the neighbours start talking. Aidan Turner plays him scarred and brooding, and the coastline, the swelling orchestral score and the ballroom gossip give the longing somewhere to go.
Before you start
The first two seasons carry the mining and money plot; later ones lean harder on romantic drama.
