Is it for me?
Sitcom fans who want silly jokes with a soft center will feel at home, since there is no laugh track and the cuts come fast. Zach Braff retells ordinary hospital days through J.D.'s embarrassment, so a bad moment turns into an absurd daydream on screen. One early scene has J.D. trying to talk a smoking patient into quitting. The closing narration can run corny.
Before you start
Season 9 plays like a different series from seasons 1 through 8, so most people stop at eight.
9 seasons, 182 episodes, 30 min each, about 91 hours so far
