Is it for me?
Trek fans who want one long story with a war behind it, not a tidy case every week, will settle in. Sonequa Martin-Green plays Burnham with logic and guilt pulling against each other, and Doug Jones gives the alien officer Saru a wary, careful posture under heavy prosthetics. Early on, a boarding party searches a derelict Federation ship while a monster hunts the crew.
Before you start
Season one is a single serialized story with a two-episode prologue; seasons three and four settle into a warmer, more classic Trek feel.
5 seasons, 65 episodes, 51 min each, about 55 hours so far
