Is it for me?
Noir fans who want a charming lead and a mystery in no hurry will settle in here. Sugar narrates his own case like a 1950s detective picture, and clips from old films cut in whenever his love of movies takes over. Farrell plays him polite and reserved, a man who rarely accepts a no and gets past it with persuasion or money.
Before you start
The first stretch is straight, slow noir, and the story changes direction partway through season one.
