Task

Grounded crime drama for viewers who liked Mare of Easttown, with grief, quiet family scenes and sudden violence on both sides of the chase. Ruffalo plays Brandis worn down, with pain that shows in restraint instead of outbursts. A robbery goes wrong and Robbie takes home a boy he found asleep in the house; later the crew opens the stolen bag expecting cash and finds fentanyl.

The first two episodes take their time setting up both households; the pace tightens once the task force gets close.
