Is it for me?
Hollywood satire for people who can laugh through a wince, since Valerie keeps embarrassing herself in public. At a table read the writers wave off her notes, and she answers by offering to mentor a co-star over lunch. Lisa Kudrow plays her hungry and insecure, grating on purpose, and still makes you root for her a little.
Before you start
The squirming starts in the first episode, so push past the opening; season two moves to a different setup.
