The Dark

Whodunnit fans who like their Scotland bleak and empty will settle in. Laura Donnelly plays Monica cold and guarded, all inward, and skips the usual damaged-detective habits. In one early scene she studies the dead boy's bound, praying hands and reads them as a message to the village. The logic stretches in places, and some accents are hard to follow.

One murder case runs across the whole series at a deliberate pace, so watch in order.
