Is it for me?
Viewers who liked Vikings but want more court scheming between the battles will settle in here. Alexander Dreymon plays Uhtred with a smug, easy confidence that makes his split loyalties funny as well as painful. In one early scene he agrees to train the king's warriors for a year, and the deal strains his bond with Brida. David Dawson's sly Alfred is hard to read.
Before you start
Season one takes a couple of episodes to sort out its many names and places; the last season is shorter, followed by a feature-length film.
5 seasons, 46 episodes, 57 min each, about 44 hours so far
