Is it for me?
It is comfort viewing for people who want small-town warmth with more body than a holiday movie, and who do not mind knowing where it is going. A baby is left on Doc's doorstep, and he and Mel argue over calling social services or finding the mother. Connie the gossip has opinions about Mel's looks. Martin Henderson plays Jack mild and steady, which suits the tone.
Before you start
The first episodes are slow and moody while Mel's past is set up; it settles into an easy, soapy rhythm once the regulars fill in.
7 seasons, 74 episodes, 46 min each, about 57 hours so far
