Whoever legitimately penned the chartbuster would be set for life, providing a classic motive. Therefore, jazz history is on the line when Henry and Jo investigate the murder of jazz saxophonist Pepper Evans' son. Simultaneously, bittersweet memories come flooding back to Henry, Jo and Pepper as they reflect on their father-child relationships. Meanwhile Henry, always a big fan of classical music, and Abe, a jazz enthusiast since he was a youngster, have a keyboard face-off as Abe tries to teach Henry to appreciate a new, more emotional kind of music.
